I just finished reading Traitor to the Throne, by Alwyn Hamilton! This is the second book of a trilogy. The first book came out last year and was immediately one of my favorite reads of 2016. The wait for Traitor to the Throne was very long, but I finally read it! And I must say, it was amazing!

Hoi lieve lezers!

Net als waarschijnlijk iedereen in de Young Adult wereld wist ik al vrij snel van het nieuwe boek van Veronica Roth. Wanneer de eerste serie van een schrijfster zo goed wordt ontvangen en redelijk snel erachteraan ook nog eens de boeken worden verfilmd, dan blijf je toch met vooroordelen zitten. Sommigen vonden de serie geweldig, anderen wat minder, maar iedereen heeft dan bepaalde verwachtingen wanneer er een nieuw, losstaand boek uitkomt. Ik heb geprobeerd zo neutraal mogelijk dit boek in te gaan, en Veronica Roth heeft me blij verrast!

Finally my time has come to share my thoughts about one of YA’s most anticipated books of 2017 – “Carve the Mark” by Veronica Roth.

As you already saw, we – your bloggers – decided to take the time and all review the same book. And if you were wondering why, the answer is as simple as it gets - because we have all been there.. wondering if we should or shouldn’t read a “most wanted” book. Some of us liked it more than others, but we were hoping to give you more insight if this is the book for you and help you make the decision. So here are my thoughts.

Vandaag vertel ik jullie over het boek ‘Carve the mark’ van Veronica Roth. Roth schreef eerder al de Divergent trilogie en bracht kort geleden dit boek uit. Zoals de meeste mensen uit de ‘bookcommunity’ was ook ik razend benieuwd!

A while ago, I finished reading Carve the Mark, by Veronica Roth! The anticipation was quite high for this book, as you probably know. So the Young Adult Dome group and I decided to all read the book together.

These ideas and opinions are my own, though.

Note: I understand that there are many issues that have been brought to light considering Carve the Mark, notably by Justina Ireland. I do understand that this may affect people and dissuade people from reading the book. Bloggers are even changing their Goodreads rating of the book because of it. However, this issue will not be the center of my review - I will keep it as I usually do.
