Get ready for summer with the girls of the Dome!

Summer vacation, finally the time to catch up on some reading! Of course we can imagine with all the amazing books there are, you are having trouble picking the right summery books that can give you the best vibe even when its raining. We are here to help you with that! All of us looked through our book cases searching for the most summery books we have read in the last year and we would love to recommend some good ones to you, all available in the Dome of course ;) Get ready for some summer vibes!

Caroline's summer reads:

"The Sun is Also a Star" by Nicola Yoon

My first pick for a perfect summer read is The Sun is Also a Star, by Nicola Yoon! I think that contemporaries are perfect for summer - they are light, usually have short chapters, have interesting characters and refreshing stories. The Sun is Also a Star is a story about Natasha - a US-Jamaican who is fighting against being deported, and who loves science, and Daniel - a US-Korean dreamer who believes in destiny. They meet and have a beautiful story in just a day. It’s a quick, fresh read that I would recommend on any summer TBR!

My second pick is The Rest of us Just Live Here, by Patrick Ness. This is not exactly a contemporary - nor is it exactly fantasy. It takes place on Earth, between normal teenagers, who are on the sidelines of all of the school’s supernatural heroes. It is a fast read, diverse, and really gives a great perspective on the supernatural stories that we are used to reading! I found it super refreshing and engaging. Highly recommended!

Rika's summer reads:

Liefde & Gelato is one of the best summery books since it takes place in all the gorgeous spots in Italy! I've never been there but through this book, via Lina and Ren, I can see all the places in my head and visit them. The Italian words and sentences give you the complete picture of Italy. It's sweet, heartbreaking, and enjoying the sun and some gelato, you feel right at home!

A story that comes to life on the pages! I'll Give You the Sun is one of my favorite reads about twins, a guy and a girl. He tells the first half of the story, she tells the last half of it. If they could only find their way back to each other and make it complete... I love the artsy way of the twins, how they are so much alike but still so unique. Nelson writes his novel like no one else, it is the most beautiful and stunning story which you can't shake off before you finish it.

Minca's summer reads:

What I love about Firstlife is that you can get completely lost in this new world. Do you think it is too warm outside? Just go inside and sit in a dark corner and you completely forget the heat. Gena Showalter drags you into the story as if it's your own life you're reading. But don't let the warm weather influence you, choose wise between Troika or Myriad!

With a few things in common with The Selection, The Glittering Court is a lovely summery book with beautiful dresses, curlicues and intrigues. Ever so often some darkness and danger makes an interesting and build-up tension. A lovely book to read outside in the sun or the shadows and get completely lost.

Ana's summer reads:

The first book I would like to recommend you guys is "Anna and the French Kiss" by Stephanie Perkins. This is a cute, romantic contemporary about a girl named Anna (or you could call her Ana hehe). I read this book a few summers ago and it is the perfect laid back beach/pool read! The characters are all amazing and sweet, the story doesn’t go too fast or too slow, which is perfect! You get to dream away with a lot of cute and romantic moments. I enjoy the contemporary books Stephanie writes a lot because she really knows how to tell an amazing and romantic story, but secretly Anna is my favourite so that will be my first recommendation!

The second book I’m going to recommend is a book called "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio. This book is about a boy named August (nickname: Auggie) Pullman. Auggie’s struggles and the way people treat him show us the harsh reality of humankind and it’s really tough to grasp how people can be so mean. However, not all people are like that and R.J. Palacio shows us that too. This book was so uplifting, motivating and emotional it made me cry, it really is one of my all time favourite books. The book is written from a few different perspectives, which showed us a lot more about the people surrounding Auggie. This book deals with social pressure and teaches us a lot of lessons about it. I think it’s a good read for everyone. I’m recommending it now, because the movie is coming out at the end of this year so it’s the perfect time to read ‘Wonder’!

Irina's summer reads:

"The Selection" by Kiera Cass

I don't know a girl that hasn't dreamed of becoming a princess at least once in her life! "The Selection" is set in a fictional world where the prince of the royal family has to choose a girl from the lower classes to stand by him. And the lead character, America Singer, is not your everyday typical princess, that is for sure! Funny, witty and adorable with tons of gorgeous dresses and balls, this might just be the best thing I can recommend as a summer read!

"To All The Boys I've Loved Before" by Jenny Han

Even though I am not a big fan of the Contemporaries this book was incredibly cute in an awkward and adorable way. Imagine what will happen if all the people you liked in your teenager life got the memo? Ugh.. the horror 😂 The book is funny and just the light and cute love story to enjoy at the beach!

Enjoy this summer!
